An air show of fighter aircraft is taking place today, i.e., Wednesday, on the Purvanchal Expressway in UP. The roar of Indian Air Force fighter jets can be heard on the airstrip built near Arwal Kiri Karwat village on the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur. Nine fighter jets including Sukhoi, Mirage, Tejas, and Jaguar are performing takeoff and landing demonstrations. A 5-kilometer area has been sealed for the 6-hour air show. The war exercises began at 2 PM on the expressway’s airstrip. This will continue until 5 PM. After that, war exercises will be held from 6 PM to 9 PM at night. According to UPDA, i.e., UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority, for the first time, fighter aircraft will fly from east to west direction. During this time, hearing the roar of the aircraft, people came out of their homes. The administration says that the air show is not only important from a strategic perspective, but it will also strengthen the region’s identity at the national level. Earlier in June 2023, this exercise lasted for 4 hours. On November 16, 2021, PM Modi inaugurated the Purvanchal Expressway from Sultanpur itself. During the program, fighter jets like Sukhoi, Jaguar, and Mirage also performed stunts in the sky over the airstrip for about an hour. PM Modi himself landed on the airstrip in an Air Force Hercules aircraft. The 341 km long Purvanchal Expressway built from Lucknow to Ghazipur costs Rs 22,494.66 crore. Its construction started in October 2018 and was completed in September 2021.
