Police in Nagpur have arrested a Maulana in connection with a case involving the alleged rape, black magic and forced conversion of the wife of an Indian Air Force officer. In an FIR filed on June 12, the 24-year-old woman alleged that she was drugged, raped and blackmailed. She further claimed that she was later pressured into religious conversion and marriage. The accused Maulana, identified as Hazrat, is alleged to have carried out black magic rituals and played a role in her conversion. He is a resident of Tamia in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district. Several police teams had been searching for him. Under mounting pressure, he surrendered on Wednesday night. Police said he will be produced before a court and his remand will be sought. Two other accused in the case, 26-year-old Ayaz Madare and his 30-year-old associate Amin Sheikh, are already in police custody until June 21. Ayaz is the woman’s former classmate. Woman revealed allegations after husband returned home According to police, the woman had kept the matter hidden from her husband. However, when she began receiving threatening calls from the accused in his presence, she disclosed the entire incident. The couple then approached the police. In her FIR, the woman alleged that the three accused took her to Tamia village in Madhya Pradesh, where the Maulana performed tantric rituals and black magic on her. She claimed that she was then pressured to convert to Islam and marry Ayaz. According to her statement, she agreed to convert and marry him after being influenced by the Maulana’s words. The woman also accused Ayaz of raping her after giving her a sedative, blackmailing her with objectionable videos and extorting around ₹4 lakh. Charges filed under multiple sections Police have registered an FIR against the accused under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 64 (rape), Section 308 (extortion), Section 296 (obscene acts), Section 351(3) (criminal intimidation) and Section 61 (criminal conspiracy). Provisions of the Maharashtra Anti-Superstition, Human Sacrifice and Black Magic Act, 2013, have also been invoked. Investigators are conducting forensic examinations of the accused’s mobile phones, SIM cards, social media accounts and other digital evidence. Allegations related to rape after administering a sedative and extortion of money are also being investigated. Female property dealer, husband posted in another city According to police, the woman’s husband serves in the Indian Air Force and is currently posted in another city. The woman works as a property dealer. On June 12, when her husband returned home, she told him about the alleged incidents. According to her complaint, Ayaz contacted her in February 2025 on the pretext of buying a plot of land. She alleged that he called her to a hotel on Wardha Road, where he gave her an intoxicating substance, raped her while she was unconscious and recorded photos and videos. According to the FIR, Ayaz later used those videos to blackmail her and allegedly sexually exploited her multiple times. Video surfaced after FIR After the FIR was registered, a video involving the woman surfaced on social media. In the video, Ayaz is seen holding her hands and reciting words while she speaks to him. The woman can be heard saying, “You always want to fight, don’t you? Let go of my hand… let go.” She is then seen crying and repeatedly asking to be released, while the accused continues to hold her hand. After reciting certain words, he appears to blow on her face several times. The woman told police that the video was old.
