‘Motherhood should be a choice, not a pressure’:Kriti Sanon reveals she froze her eggs during ‘Mimi’

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has revealed that she decided to freeze her eggs while preparing for her film Mimi. Speaking to Humans of Bombay, the 35-year-old actress said she had to gain weight for the role, making it the right time to undergo the procedure. Kriti explained that egg freezing can cause bloating and make the body feel heavier. Since she was already required to put on weight for the film, she felt it was the most practical time to go ahead with the process. She also said she does not want decisions about marriage or motherhood to be driven by her biological clock or societal expectations. According to Kriti, becoming a mother should be a personal choice made when one feels emotionally and mentally ready, not because of age or external pressure. Chose to Freeze Her Eggs While Preparing for Mimi Kriti Sanon shared that she underwent the egg-freezing procedure while preparing for Mimi, a role that required a significant physical transformation. Since she had to gain considerable weight for the film, she felt it was the right time to go ahead with the process. The actress revealed that someone had once told her that freezing her eggs would be one of the best gifts she could give herself. The advice stayed with her, and when she began gaining weight for Mimi, she decided it was the ideal opportunity to undergo the procedure. ‘I Don’t Want Age to Decide When I Become a Mother’ Explaining why she chose to freeze her eggs, Kriti Sanon said she wanted to free herself from the pressure of the biological clock. She said she never wants to feel forced into marriage or motherhood simply because of her age. According to Kriti, decisions like getting married or having children should happen only when a person feels emotionally and mentally ready. “These are life-changing choices and should be made by choice, not because time is running out,” she said. What Is Egg Freezing? Egg freezing is a fertility preservation procedure in which a woman’s eggs are retrieved from the ovaries, frozen in an unfertilised state, and stored for future use. The procedure is often chosen by women who wish to delay pregnancy because of personal, medical or career-related reasons. Kriti also spoke about the hormonal and emotional aspects of the process, saying that despite the challenges, she believes it gives women greater freedom to plan motherhood on their own terms.
