The Supreme Court will hear the Ayodhya Ram Mandir offering theft case on Monday. The UP government will present a status report before the bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice V. Mohana. In the previous hearing (July 20), the court had ordered the UP government to form a new Special Investigation Team (SIT) and had sought a report on the investigation conducted so far. Following the court’s directive, the government formed a new SIT on Saturday. Its command has been handed over to IG Kiran S of Lucknow Range. The previous SIT was headed by IAS officer Vijay Vishwas Pant, with Kiran S as a member. During the previous hearing, Chief Justice Suryakant had said that a new SIT should be formed. A senior IPS officer should lead the team so that the investigation reaches a decisive stage. During the hearing, the Chief Justice (CJI) had stated in a stern tone, “We only want to warn that there should be no politics in this sensitive matter. At first glance, this appears to be a criminal case. It should be investigated fairly, independently, and with complete honesty.” Meanwhile, all eight accused in the Ram Mandir offering theft case will be presented today in the Anti-Corruption Court. Due to security reasons, the presentation will be done via video conferencing. The accused Ramshankar Yadav alias ‘Tinnu’, Anukalp Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Lavkush Mishra, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Manish Yadav and retired bank employee Subhash Srivastava are currently in jail.
