After Gen Z, Gen Alpha children protest in UP school:Demand clean water, electricity, toilets

After the Gen Z protest at Jantar Mantar, a video of a Gen Alpha children’s movement from Uttar Pradesh has now surfaced. In the video, schoolchildren can be seen protesting to have their basic demands met. This incident is from Sarvodaya Inter College in Kishanpur, Fatehpur district. Children can be seen raising slogans against the school. A boy present at the protest is heard saying in the video that the school toilets are not clean. Children who are still inside the school and want to come out to join the protest against the management are also reportedly not being allowed to leave. The banner in the children’s hands reads: “Improve the college system, build the children’s future.” The students claim that if they raise their voice against the principal of Sarvodaya Inter College, they are also threatened with being failed.
The students’ protest began at 7 am, once the school gate opened. They were raising their voices against the school’s dilapidated buildings, contaminated water, and the principal’s poor behaviour towards students. Students stated during the protest that the school toilets are dirty, there is no electricity, and the fans are broken. In addition, there are no facilities for a computer lab, library, or sports. The condition of the school’s fans is reportedly so poor that some children have already received electric shocks. The school administration allegedly charges fees from children arbitrarily in the name of admission, and similarly, money is said to be demanded when students ask for mark sheets and other documents. Students remained firm on their demands Students from Classes 6 to 12 took part in the protest. Principal Lal Bahadur Singh and Station House Officer (Kishanpur) Manish Singh initially tried to persuade the students to end the protest, but they refused and remained firm on their demands. The protest continued into the afternoon until District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) Rakesh Kumar arrived at the campus. Kumar spoke with the students and assured them that their demands would be met within 24 hours. Following the protest, the school was closed for the day. After videos of the children’s protest circulated, the DIOS confirmed that the students’ demands had been accepted. Four fans will now be installed in every classroom by the next day, and the wiring will be fixed. Desks and benches will be provided within a month, and one RO water cooler will be installed. Students’ demands accepted Rakesh Kumar told the students that arrangements for clean drinking water at the school would be made immediately. Toilets will be kept clean, and a computer laboratory, library, and sports facilities will also be provided with immediate effect.
