According to police sources, the amount recovered has already crossed ₹2.5 crore, and the counting is still underway. During sustained interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed that proceeds from an international narcotics and cough syrup smuggling racket had been hidden in a flat in Malda. Acting on the information, the Special Operations Team (SOT), along with police from Malda and Dakshin Dinajpur, raided a flat in a commercial building at Mangalbari in Malda on Sunday. Drug racket probe uncovers hidden fortune Investigators said the building belongs to Dilip Saha, while the third-floor flat had been rented by Pintu Sarkar. Police suspect the apartment was being used to stash large amounts of illicit cash linked to the smuggling network. Currency counting continues under heavy security Search operations and cash counting are still in progress under heavy police security. Officials believe the total seizure could increase further. Police have launched a search for Pintu Sarkar, who is believed to be the alleged kingpin of the racket.
