The life of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj is an eternal message of harmony, equality, devotion, hard work, and social justice. His thoughts are as relevant today as they were centuries ago. Sant Ravidas showed society the path of humanity, equal rights, and spiritual consciousness, transcending casteism, discrimination, and untouchability. This path is the foundation of a developed, harmonious, and strong India. Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai stated this today at the Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur, during a program organized on the occasion of the Kalash Vandan Maha Abhiyan, marking the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj. On this occasion, he reverently placed a Kalash filled with sacred soil and water, brought from Sant Ravidas’s birthplace in Sir Govardhanpur, Varanasi, on his head and placed it before a photograph of Sant Ravidas. The Chief Minister performed the ritualistic worship and paid homage to Sant Ravidas, calling it a symbol of social harmony and national unity.

Chief Minister made important announcements in honor of Saint Ravidas

During the program, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai made several important announcements in honor of Saint Ravidas. He announced that, as part of the various programs organized to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Saint Shiromani Guru Ravidas Maharaj, his birth anniversary (Maghi Purnima) in 2027 will be a public holiday in the state. The sale of meat and liquor will be completely banned throughout the state on this day.

The Chief Minister also announced that a State Decoration Award in the name of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas will be presented among the State Decoration Awards to be presented on Chhattisgarh State Foundation Day. A prominent square in Naya Raipur will also be named after Sant Guru Ravidas.

He said that efforts would be made to get Saint Ravidas’s famous message –
“I want such a rule where everyone gets food.
Young and old all live together, Ravidas remains happy.” inscribed in the Chhattisgarh Assembly by discussing with the Assembly Speaker.

Whenever injustice increased in the society, saints and great men gave a new direction.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said that India is the sacred land of saints, sages, and great men. Whenever social evils such as injustice, oppression, discrimination, untouchability, and inequality increased, saints and great men provided a new direction to society. Through his life and teachings, Saint Ravidas provided a message of social harmony, equality, and devotion that provided a new consciousness to society.

He said that Saint Ravidas courageously resisted the pressure of conversion by the then ruler Sikandar Lodi and preached that all human beings are equal and that the only path to God is through true devotion and virtue. His famous message, “If the mind is pure, then the Ganges is in the pot,” still guides society towards inner purity and spirituality.

The Chief Minister also shared an incident related to Saint Ravidas and said that the incident of Ganga appearing in the pot due to the influence of his unwavering devotion and penance is not only a symbol of faith, but it is a message that attainment of God is possible with true devotion and a pure mind.

‘Development as well as heritage’ is our guiding mantra

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country is moving forward on the mantra of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.” The Prime Minister’s message of “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi” is a guiding mantra for preserving the country’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

He said that the sacred soil and water pots brought from the birthplace of Saint Ravidas are being delivered to monasteries, temples, and places of worship across the country. This is a national harmony campaign connecting every section of society, every village, and every family.

Kalash Vandan Abhiyan will become a mass movement for social harmony.

Chief Minister Shri Sai, while praising the 11-member delegation led by Dr. Sanam Jangde, which brought the holy Kalash from Sir Govardhanpur, said that their efforts will play an important role in spreading the thoughts of Saint Ravidas to the people and strengthening social harmony.

He handed over sacred urns to representatives from all districts and flagged off vehicles carrying them to villages. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this campaign would spread Saint Ravidas’s message of harmony, equality, and social unity to every village, every community, and every home.

Saint Ravidas’s life is an inspiration to unite the entire society: Guru Khushwant Saheb

Cabinet Minister Shri Guru Khuswant Saheb said that Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas gave the message of equality and social unity by eliminating the distinction between the young and the old. He said that the state government is committed to spreading the ideas of Sant Ravidas to every person in society. The Kalash Vandan Abhiyan will reach every village and strengthen social unity and cultural consciousness.

Harmony is India’s biggest strength: Shri Ajay Jamwal

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ajay Jamwal stated that Saint Ravidas’s message of harmony is relevant to the entire world today. He emphasized the need to be vigilant against forces that divide society on the basis of caste, religion, and discrimination. Social unity and cultural nationalism can only be strengthened by putting the saints’ teachings into practice. He urged all delegates to widely disseminate the ideas of Saint Ravidas by delivering the sacred Kalash to all places of worship in each district.

The thoughts of Saint Ravidas are equally relevant today: Saroj Pandey

On this occasion, Ms. Saroj Pandey said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country is continuously moving forward in honoring its cultural heritage. She said that Saint Ravidas strongly opposed the pressure of religious conversion and gave the message of eternal tradition, equality, labor, and social harmony. His ideas continue to give a new direction to society even today. She said that it is our responsibility to spread the message of Saint Ravidas to every person.
