The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir conducted searches at nine locations on Wednesday in connection with the 1990 murder of a Kashmiri Pandit father and son. The searches were carried out in Jammu, Baramulla, Shopian and Anantnag. The case relates to the abduction and murder of Kashmiri Pandit writer and social activist Sarwanand Kaul Premi and his son, Virendra Kaul. Both were residents of Sof Shali in Kokernag, Anantnag. The case was registered at the Doru police station in Anantnag in 1990. The SIA is now investigating the case. Taken from their home on the night of April 29 Kashmiri Pandit poet Sarwanand Kaul Premi and his 27-year-old son, Virendra Kaul, were kidnapped from their home by armed militants on the night of April 29, 1990. A few days later, on May 1, 1990, their bodies were found hanging from a tree. CIK also conducted searches on August 8 Earlier, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) conducted simultaneous searches at several locations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag, Shopian and Baramulla districts on August 8. During a search of a house in the Hiller Shahabad area of Anantnag, a CIK team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Farooq Ahmad seized two digital devices. According to officials, the devices were seized in connection with an FIR registered at the CIK Kashmir police station.
