A condition has been imposed on the entry of Muslims at a garba event scheduled to be held in Mumbai’s Borivali during Navratri. BJP MLA Sanjay Upadhyay said Muslims attending the event would be required to apply a tilak and participate in worship of the goddess. The statement comes amid a wider debate over the participation of Muslims in garba and dandiya events during Navratri. Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane had earlier opposed the entry of Muslims at such events. This year, Sharadiya Navratri will be observed from October 11 to 19, with garba and dandiya events scheduled at various locations. The story is being updated.
