Around 220 sovereigns of gold jewellery were stolen from the home of a woman YouTuber in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. The theft took place at VIP Garden near Anthana Nadar Kudiyiruppu. The incident came to light on Thursday night after Vinothkumar, who lives at the house, returned from Tirunelveli. He had gone out with his family to shop for clothes for their two-year-old child’s upcoming birthday. On returning home, Vinothkumar found the rear door broken. A bureau in a bedroom on the first floor was also found damaged, with around 220 sovereigns of gold jewellery kept inside it missing. Thieves used gas cutter to enter house Police found that the thieves allegedly used a gas cutter to cut through the frame of the rear door before entering the house. Vinothkumar filed a police complaint following the theft. Police are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects, while a special team has been formed to trace and arrest those involved. Police suspect social media posts gave thieves a lead Police suspect the thieves may have learnt about the jewellery through social media posts and reels shared by Vinothkumar’s wife, Madhumitha, 29, who is a YouTuber. Madhumitha frequently posted pictures and reels showcasing her jewellery collection. Police suspect that posts in which she mentioned buying gold every month may have alerted the thieves to the jewellery kept at the house.
