Income Tax Department officials have reportedly raided the Mumbai offices of Prime Focus Limited, the company owned by Ramayana producer Namit Malhotra. According to a CNBC-TV18 report, the action was taken in connection with alleged irregularities involving foreign remittances. The search comes just a few weeks before the release of the much-awaited big-budget film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Case Linked to Foreign Remittances The Income Tax Department’s search operation is reportedly related to financial irregularities involving money sent abroad. However, no official details have been released so far about the specific transactions under investigation or the scale of the search operation. Prime Focus Shares Fall 8% News of the Income Tax action emerged on the morning of October 7. Following the reports, shares of Prime Focus fell nearly 8% on the stock market. At the time, a minor fire broke out near the studio. However, no one was injured in the incident, and shooting resumed immediately after the situation was brought under control. ‘Ramayana’ being made on a ₹4,000 crore budget Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film will be released in two parts. This mythological film is being made on a budget of around ₹4,000 crore. Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman are jointly composing the music. The first part of the film will be released in cinemas on 5 November 2026 during Diwali, while the second part is planned for release during Diwali 2027. DNEG is doing Hollywood-level work Namit Malhotra’s company, Prime Focus, works in visual effects (VFX), animation, post-production and content creation for the entertainment industry. Namit Malhotra is producing this Ramayana film in collaboration with actor Yash’s company, Monster Mind Creations, and DNEG. DNEG is handling the visual effects for the film. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi plays Mata Sita and Yash plays Ravana. Sunny Deol will be seen as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Arun Govil as Dasharath, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi and Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha.
