Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has questioned whether the arrest of the shooters in the firing case linked to Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff should be considered a major success. He said that in the underworld, those who fire the shots are merely pawns, while the real people who plan the attacks remain behind the scenes. He warned that the atmosphere of fear in Bollywood may not necessarily end even after the shooters are arrested. The fear will not end with the shooters’ arrest Ram Gopal Varma shared his views on the firing case linked to Tiger Shroff in a post on the social media platform X. He said it was important to understand how the underworld operates before celebrating the arrest of the shooters. According to him, the person who carries out an attack is the most easily replaceable part of a criminal network. His role is limited and ends once the crime has been committed. Therefore, it would be incorrect to assume that the entire network has been dismantled merely by arresting the attackers. Ram Gopal Varma believes the real challenge is to reach the people who plan the attacks and have them carried out by others. ‘Shooter is the labourer, mastermind is the owner’ The filmmaker gave the example of constructing a building to explain how the underworld operates. He said that, just as construction workers do not design a building or own it, shooters are not the people who run the entire network. According to him, shooters merely carry out assigned tasks, while the real decision-makers control the entire operation from a distance. The people who decide what needs to be done and who should be targeted are the true power behind the network. Ram Gopal Varma therefore refused to regard the arrest of shooters as decisive action against the entire criminal machinery. However, this is the opinion he expressed in his social media post; it does not by itself establish the actual status of the investigation. Explaining the power game through the example of the army Ram Gopal Varma also used the army’s structure as an example to explain his point. He said that in a war, the king or commander does not enter the battlefield to fight personally; instead, they issue orders to the soldiers. The soldiers are the ones who take the risks, while those making the decisions often remain at a safe distance. He clarified that his intention was not to equate the army with the underworld, but to explain that in a powerful system, those who make decisions and those who implement them on the ground can be different people. According to him, this very distance helps keep the major figures in criminal networks protected. If the gang leader were personally involved in every crime, the risk of him being arrested or killed would increase. That is why such networks use other people. Questions Over Bollywood’s Security After Tiger Shroff Case At the end of his post, Ram Gopal Varma said that the arrest of the shooters could neither be considered the police’s final victory nor guarantee that the underworld had suffered a decisive setback. According to him, fear may persist until those operating behind the scenes are reached. His remarks have intensified the discussion over Bollywood’s security following the case linked to Tiger Shroff.
