Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has now clarified the criticism he received for using fake moustaches in his film ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ (2022). During a podcast, the actor spoke openly about this controversy for the first time and also apologised to fans. Akshay clarified that not growing a moustache was not laziness, but a decision related to the film’s requirement and the structure of his face. Such moustaches could not be grown for ‘Prithviraj’
When Akshay was asked in Shubhankhar Mishra’s podcast if he should have given more time for the film, he said, “I am currently working on many films and looks. For example, I have this beard now, for which I did not work for about 6 weeks to grow it.” According to the story of Emperor Prithviraj, a specific type of mustache was needed, which could not grow naturally on my face. Akshay further added that perhaps the mustache didn’t look good, so if people felt bad, he apologises. Film was a box office flop
Notably, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, was released in cinemas on June 3, 2022. Made under the banner of Yash Raj Films, the film had a budget of around 175 crore rupees, but it only managed to earn 90 crore rupees worldwide. Along with Akshay, Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonu Sood were in lead roles in the film. Akshay’s ‘fake mustache’ look was also considered a major reason behind the film’s flop. Akshay’s Upcoming Big Projects
Akshay currently has several big films in the pipeline. He will soon be seen in Ahmed Khan’s ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ (Welcome 3). This film features many big actors including Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Arshad Warsi, and Jacqueline Fernandez.
