Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh offered special prayers at the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru on Tuesday morning. He took this step following an order from the Karnataka High Court in the ‘Kantara’ film’s Daiva scene mimicry case filed against him. The court had ordered him in April to visit the temple within four weeks. Ranveer Singh’s temple visit comes at a time when, just a day earlier, the Film Federation (FWICE) had issued a non-cooperation directive against him, banning him for dropping out of the film ‘Don 3’. Offered prayers like a common devotee, standing in a queue Ranveer Singh arrived in Mysore on Tuesday morning. Earlier, he was seen at Mumbai Airport early in the morning. According to India Today’s report, the actor did not use any VIP facilities. He stood in a queue like a common devotee and offered prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari. He wore a mask on his face until the entrance of the sanctum sanctorum, which he removed before entering. He arrived empty-handed without any worship materials and offered special prayers at the temple. The controversy began with the Goa Film Festival This entire controversy started last year on November 30, 2025, at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa. At this ceremony, Ranveer Singh mimicked the famous ‘Daiva’ scene from the film ‘Kantara’, in which the film’s director and lead actor Rishab Shetty appeared. After the video of this performance went viral on social media, a large section of the Kannada community expressed strong displeasure. Following this, an FIR was registered against Ranveer in Karnataka on charges of hurting the sentiments of the Kannada community. High Court had ordered to visit the temple After an FIR was registered in the case, Ranveer Singh approached the Karnataka High Court in February 2026 for relief. The court then stayed any punitive action against him. Following this, in April, Ranveer filed a revised affidavit in court and sought an unconditional apology. He had also clarified in his social media post that his intention was only to appreciate Rishab Shetty’s excellent acting and that he respects all cultures. On this, the court, hinting at closing the case, ordered him to visit the temple. Arrived in Mysore the very next day after the ‘Don 3’ controversy Ranveer’s temple visit happened at a time when he is embroiled in another major controversy. Just on Monday, the Film Federation FWICE issued a Non-Cooperation Directive against him. He is accused of backing out of the ‘Don 3’ film project at the last minute, which caused a loss of approximately ₹45 crore to director Farhan Akhtar and the makers. The very next day after this big decision, Ranveer was seen praying at a temple in Mysore.
