Bollywood actor Salman Khan has approached the court against the upcoming film Kala Hiran: Battle for Legacy, which is reportedly inspired by the 1998 blackbuck hunting case linked to him. The actor has alleged that the film violates his personality rights and could negatively affect his public image. Film has a lookalike actor portraying Salman Khan According to Salman Khan’s plea, the makers of the film have used a lookalike actor to portray him and have allegedly recreated some of his well-known personal traits, including his signature bracelet. He has also claimed that the filmmakers promoted the project by referring to him, which could make audiences believe that the film is directly connected to his real-life case. Release of the film could influence public opinion: Salman The actor further argued that the release of the film could influence public opinion regarding an ongoing legal matter. The blackbuck case is still pending before the Rajasthan High Court, and Salman Khan’s legal team has stated that a dramatised or sensationalised portrayal of the events could create prejudice and affect his right to a fair trial. As a result, Salman Khan has sought an injunction to stop the film’s production, promotion, release, streaming, and circulation of related promotional content. The matter is expected to be heard by the court soon. The first look of the film ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy’, inspired by Salman Khan’s famous blackbuck case, has been released. The film’s first trailer was released on Friday, in which Salman Khan is referred to as Ayan Khan and Lawrence as Lion. The video depicts the blackbuck poaching case and the related legal battle. The film is directed by Bharat S. Srinath, while Amit Jani is its writer and producer. The film’s teaser will be released on June 20. News18’s report stated that Salman, through law firm DSK Legal, had sent a legal notice to casting director Akshay Pandey. The notice demanded an immediate halt to the production and promotion of the proposed film named ‘Blackbuck’. Blackbuck poaching case came to light in 1998 The blackbuck poaching case involving Salman Khan came to light in 1998 when he was shooting for the film ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ in Jodhpur. A total of four cases were registered against Salman. These included two chinkara poaching cases, one Kankani blackbuck poaching case, and one Arms Act case. Based on the complaint of the Bishnoi community in the blackbuck poaching case, a case was also registered against Salman along with Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam. In April 2006, Salman was sentenced in the chinkara poaching cases. In January 2017, he was acquitted in the Arms Act case. Meanwhile, on April 5, 2018, he was sentenced to 5 years in jail and a fine of 10 thousand rupees in the blackbuck poaching case. The other artists were acquitted in the same case.
