Abhishek Banerjee appears before Bidhannagar court in DJ case:TMC leader submits voice sample after High Court warning over non-cooperation

Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee appeared before the Bidhannagar Court on Wednesday to provide his voice sample in connection with the alleged “DJ remark” case, following weeks of legal proceedings and court intervention. Banerjee reaches court amid tight security Banerjee left his Kalighat residence around 11 am and reached the court ahead of his scheduled appearance. Security has been significantly tightened around the court premises, with Central Armed Police Forces also deployed. Voice sample collected in DJ investigation The Trinamool leader had earlier appeared before the CID in the case but challenged the order directing him to submit a voice sample before the Calcutta High Court. Banerjee had argued that since he had already admitted that the controversial “DJ” remark was his, collecting a voice sample was unnecessary. High Court criticised repeated legal delays During the hearing, Justice Sougata Bhattacharyya of the Calcutta High Court strongly criticised the delay, asking when Banerjee intended to provide the sample and warning that continued non-cooperation with the investigation could lead to the withdrawal of interim protection. The judge also cautioned that the petition could be dismissed with costs if he failed to comply. Leader questioned need for voice sample Following the court’s observations, Banerjee agreed to provide the voice sample. His legal team, however, sought two safeguards: that the sample should not be used in any other case and that adequate security be ensured during his appearance. In accordance with the High Court’s direction, Banerjee appeared before the Bidhannagar Court on Wednesday to complete the process. Further investigation in the case is underway.
