A terrorist was killed in a joint operation by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in a forest in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday. The Chinar Corps shared details of the operation in a post on X. The operation was carried out in the Ashdar Gali area inside the forest. Security forces suspect that another terrorist may be hiding in the area, and a search operation is underway. According to Army officials, the identity of the terrorist killed has not yet been confirmed. An AK rifle was recovered from the site. The encounter took place in the Valley after a gap of several months. Information received about terrorists moving from Pulwama to Budgam Security forces received information on Thursday evening that a suspected group of terrorists was moving from Pakherpora in Pulwama district towards Yusmarg in Budgam. A search operation was launched following the information. The Chinar Corps said on X that the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint operation in Ashdar Gali, Budgam, based on specific intelligence inputs. Terrorists opened fire after spotting the security forces According to the Chinar Corps, security personnel noticed suspicious activity in the area on Thursday evening. The suspected terrorists were then asked to surrender. The terrorists opened fire, leading to an intense exchange of fire between the security forces and the terrorists. One terrorist was killed in the firing.
