Kriti Sanon, who was embroiled in controversy over her outfit in an advertisement linked to Raksha Bandhan, has now questioned patriarchal attitudes towards cases of harassment, rape and sexual exploitation of women. She said this is not a fight between men and women, but also against women who consider patriarchy a cultural value. Without referring to any particular incident, Kriti Sanon wrote on her official social media account, “This is not a fight between men and women. It is a fight between women and patriarchal thinking against men who consider women inferior and also against women who have come to regard patriarchy as a cultural value.” Kriti further wrote, “How long will women continue to be taught how to protect themselves from sexual violence? Why are men not taught not to harass, sexually abuse, or force themselves on women?” “When a minor is raped, why is the question not asked what kind of mindset the person who committed the act has? Instead, people still ask what the girl was wearing, where she was, who she was with, why she went out, and why her family allowed her to do so.” Additionally, Kriti wrote, “Stop telling women every time that they need to be more careful to keep themselves safe. What is needed is to teach men to treat women with respect and stay within their limits. Teach boys what consent and respect mean. Teach them to take responsibility for their behaviour. Stop placing the burden of the wrongdoing of men who behave improperly on women.” Ayesha Khan said, “It is disgusting to see this” Actress Ayesha Khan, who was seen in the song “Sharaarat” from Dhurandhar, had also written some time ago about the brutality inflicted on a girl in Jamui: “I genuinely feel disgusted by what happened in Bihar. Imagine being surrounded by people, feeling scared and humiliated, while instead of helping you, they stand there filming you. Stop calling this morality. Stop hiding harassment behind the guise of culture. This is extremely shameful and disgusting.” Disha Patani’s sister Khushboo said – Why object if someone goes out with you? Khushboo Patani shared a video on 22 September, reacting to the incident. Khushboo questioned why people should object if a boy and a girl want to live together, go out together or be friends of their own free will.
