The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s camp office in Chandigarh on Tuesday evening. CBI teams also reached Mohali and Sangrur. The action was taken following an order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had alleged corruption and irregularities in transfers and postings at the CM’s office. The ED had named the CM’s OSD Rajbir Singh Ghumman as the main accused, but the police did not register an FIR against him. The matter reached the High Court, which on October 5 ordered the registration of an FIR against the OSD and a CBI probe. The Punjab government sought an urgent hearing in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, but the plea was rejected. After the CBI raid, CM Bhagwant Mann posted on X, saying that the BJP wanted to defame him because of the elections. He said the BJP was worried after seeing the love and support he was receiving from the people. The Punjab and Haryana High Court sought a response from the Punjab government in August 2026 in the case.
