The race to build more powerful artificial intelligence (AI) models is heating up, and Meta wants to be among the leaders. The company has launched ‘Muse Wonder,’ its latest and more advanced AI model, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg saying that Meta has now reached the frontier of AI development. After spending billions of dollars on AI research and development, Meta is looking to close the gap with rivals such as OpenAI and Anthropic. The company says its new model can handle more complex tasks and compete with some of the most advanced AI systems available today. What is Meta’s Muse Wonder AI model? Muse Wonder is a new family of AI models developed by Meta. It follows the company’s earlier Muse Spark models and is designed to handle more advanced tasks. In an interview with the Financial Times, Zuckerberg said the model would support more sophisticated AI capabilities and put Meta in competition with leading companies in the field. Meta has also claimed that Muse Wonder performs better than some competing models, including Anthropic’s Opus 5.5 and OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra, on certain tasks. These claims are based on company benchmarks and data cited from Artificial Analysis. However, such comparisons depend on the tasks being tested and the benchmarks used. They do not necessarily mean that one model is better than another in every area. Meta launches two versions of Muse Wonder Meta has introduced two versions of its new AI model: Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full. The standard Muse Wonder is designed to support advanced AI tasks, while Muse Wonder Full is the more powerful version. The models are intended to help Meta compete in a market where companies are increasingly developing AI tools that can do more than answer questions. These systems can also help users complete tasks with less manual effort. Meta has made the models available through its Meta Model API and Muse Code. The company has also announced different pricing options, ranging from $0.20 (around Rs 19) per million tokens for basic use to $200 (around Rs 19,000) per month for Muse Wonder Full. How Muse Wonder will power Meta’s AI assistant One of the main uses of Muse Wonder will be to power the paid version of Meta’s Muse AI assistant. Launched last month, Muse is designed to help users complete everyday tasks, including ordering groceries and booking travel. Instead of simply providing information, the assistant can use AI agents to carry out tasks on a user’s behalf. Meta says Muse has become the most downloaded app on Apple’s and Google’s app stores in the US. According to Wang, Meta wants to focus on building AI tools for everyday personal and professional use rather than concentrating mainly on coding. Wang said: I think the rest of the ecosystem has been really focused on coding agents. We do genuinely think that we’ve taken a differentiated focus to make the personal-agent use case really sing. This allows the AI to retain relevant information over longer periods, potentially remembering details across days, weeks and months. Such a feature could help the assistant provide more useful responses based on earlier interactions. Wang also said the model can keep working on a task even when its first attempt fails by trying different approaches. These capabilities could make AI assistants more useful for tasks that require several steps, such as organising travel or managing work-related activities. However, how well these features work in everyday situations will depend on the model’s actual performance and how the tools are implemented. Meta invests billions to catch up in the AI race Meta has been investing heavily in AI as it works to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic. In June 2025, the company invested $14 billion in Scale AI and brought its co-founder, Alexandr Wang, into its AI leadership team. Wang now leads Meta’s Superintelligence Labs, which is responsible for advancing the company’s AI efforts. Zuckerberg said developing Muse Wonder required significant computing power, financial investment, and years of scientific work. The launch of Muse Wonder marks an important step in Meta’s attempt to compete with some of the biggest names in AI. The company hopes its new models will improve its AI assistant, support more complex tasks, and attract businesses looking for advanced AI tools. Meta’s claims about Muse Wonder’s performance will need to be assessed against independent testing and real-world use. Still, the launch signals that the company intends to play a bigger role in the development of advanced AI systems.
