The Jabalpur High Court has rejected the bail petition of retired judge Giribala Singh in the Bhopal Twisha Sharma death case on Wednesday. The court said, “The forensic and digital reports are awaited. The investigation is still underway. In such circumstances, she cannot be released.” Giribala is accused of supporting her son Samarth, who is an accused in the case of abetting Twisha to commit suicide. The CBI had also opposed her bail. The High Court had earlier cancelled the anticipatory bail granted to her by a lower court in Bhopal. Lawyer had said Giribala had no role in the case During the previous hearing, Giribala’s lawyer argued that the main allegations were against Twisha’s husband and Giribala’s son, Samarth. He said Giribala had no role in allegedly abetting Twisha’s suicide. The CBI opposed the bail plea, saying that Giribala was an influential person and had earlier conducted a “parallel investigation” into the case. The case was initially registered at the Katara Hills police station in Bhopal. Later, following a Supreme Court order, the investigation was handed over to the CBI. Earlier granted anticipatory bail by lower court Giribala was granted anticipatory bail by a Bhopal lower court on May 15. The state government and Twisha’s parents challenged the order in the High Court. On May 27, the High Court cancelled her anticipatory bail. Disputes reportedly started a month after marriage Twisha’s sister-in-law alleged that disputes between Twisha and Samarth began around a month after their marriage. She claimed that Twisha was repeatedly made to feel inferior because theirs was an inter-caste marriage. As a result, Twisha often stood up for herself.
