The credibility of sports dramas in Bollywood has always been a major test, and to pass this test, Pulkit Samrat has completely immersed himself in his upcoming Netflix series ‘Glory’. In this recently released series, he is seen in the role of a professional boxer. During the trailer launch, he surprised everyone by stepping into the live ring with professional boxer Neeraj Goyat. The journey of transforming from an actor to a fighter was quite challenging According to Pulkit’s trainer Drew Neal, his aim was not just to teach him boxing, but to transform him into a real boxer. Drew described this process as an inspiring journey, in which Pulkit was taught not only to look right in the ring but also to think and feel like a fighter. According to Drew, they started training about 9 months before the shoot, which is considered a very short time. Focus was not just on fitness during preparation, but on functional strength
The biggest change in Pulkit’s fitness approach came during his preparation to become a boxer. While actors usually work on muscles to look good on screen, Drew emphasised making his body functional. Pulkit was already fit and ripped, but to make him strong enough for the ring, his weight was balanced so that he could last longer during matches and perform effectively. Thousands of real punches were thrown, the entire training was also a true test of the body The most difficult part of the training was stamina and repetition. According to Drew, Pulkit had to throw thousands of jabs and crosses daily, which put immense pressure on his shoulders. This was a new experience for him, as he had not done this kind of continuous punching training before. To keep his body continuously active for a long time and perform with the same intensity, he had to undergo rigorous marathon sessions. Pulkit’s wife, Kriti Kharbanda, also witnessed this journey, appreciating his hard work and sharing an emotional note.
