A fire broke out in a general coach of the Bhabua-Sasaram-Patna Intercity Express at Sasaram railway station in Bihar on Monday morning. All passengers were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. According to railway officials, the fire started in the D3 general coach of train number 53212 while the train was stationed at the platform before departure. Thick smoke and flames were seen rising from the coach, triggering panic among passengers. Passengers rushed out amid panic At the time of the incident, a large number of passengers had already boarded the train. As smoke spread inside the coach, panic broke out and passengers rushed to get off the train. Several travelers reportedly abandoned their luggage and ran towards the platform to save themselves. Eyewitnesses said a strong burning smell was first noticed inside the coach, after which smoke rapidly filled the compartment and flames became visible. The fire occurred before the train left the station, allowing railway staff to respond quickly. Railway personnel immediately alerted the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the fire department. Firefighters reached the spot promptly and brought the blaze under control. Damaged coach detached from train Officials confirmed that all passengers were evacuated safely and no casualties or injuries were reported. However, the affected coach suffered damage in the incident. The damaged coach was later detached from the train, following which railway authorities initiated steps to restore normal train operations. Short circuit suspected Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a technical fault or short circuit. Railway authorities are conducting a detailed probe into the incident. The incident comes a day after a fire was reported in two coaches of the Thiruvananthapuram-Delhi Rajdhani Express, raising concerns over railway coach safety.
