Nationwide heatwave to continue for 6 days:Temp crosses 46°C in 6 states including MP, Rajasthan; UP’s Banda records temprature of 47.6°C

States like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Maharashtra have recorded high temperatures of around 46°C. Banda in Uttar Pradesh was the hottest city in the country, where the temperature was recorded at 47.6°C. Cities like Prayagraj recorded temperatures of around 46.8°C, Bathinda in Punjab 47°C, Wardha in Maharashtra 46.5°C, Amravati 46.4°C, Akola 46.3°C, Sirsa in Haryana 46.2°C, Chittorgarh and Pilani in Rajasthan 46.2°C, Sri Ganganagar 46.1°C, and Bikaner 46°C. According to private weather agency Skymet, a large part of the country will reel under severe heat from today until May 24. During this period, heatwave conditions will prevail in almost half of the country, excluding some areas of the Northeast and Southern Peninsula. The average temperature could remain up to 45°C. The reason for this is that the weather systems that were previously causing good rainfall in many parts have now weakened. According to the agency, a heatwave alert has been issued for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Telangana. Instructions for officials to remain alert in UP Madhya Pradesh recorded the season’s most severe heat on Monday. Khajuraho recorded a temperature of 46.8 °C, Ujjain 45.4 °C, and Khandwa 45.1 °C. In Bhopal, the temperature was 44 °C. Due to intense sunlight, the asphalt on roads melted in many places. UP CM Yogi has instructed all District Magistrates, Health Department, Electricity Department, and relief agencies to remain in alert mode. He also asked to keep ambulance services active. The CM has instructed officials to go into the field, keep a special vigil on sensitive districts, and complete relief and rescue preparations promptly. Rain in Jharkhand Storms, strong winds, and rain continue in several districts of Jharkhand. On Monday, Ranchi and Gumla experienced rain with strong winds.
