Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) increased CNG prices by ₹2 per kilogram on Tuesday, May 26. These prices have been increased in several cities, including Delhi-NCR. New rates in Delhi and NCR cities CNG in Delhi has increased from ₹81.09 per kg to ₹83.09 per kg. In Noida, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida, ₹91.70 will have to be paid for CNG. Petrol, Diesel prices increased for the 4th time in the month Oil companies yesterday increased the price of petrol by ₹2.61 and diesel by ₹2.71 per litre. Following this increase, the price of petrol in Delhi now stands at ₹102.12 and diesel at ₹95.20. Why did the prices of petrol, diesel and CNG increase? The main reason for the increase in petrol, diesel, and CNG prices is the fluctuation in crude oil prices in the international market. Crude oil prices, which were around $70 before the Iran-US war, have now risen to over $100 per barrel. Oil companies were under pressure due to rising crude oil prices. Therefore, they have taken this step to cover losses. If crude oil prices remain high for a prolonged period, petrol, diesel, and CNG prices may be increased further. Oil companies incur a loss of ₹600 crore every day Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said on May 25 that state-owned oil companies are incurring a loss of about ₹600 crore per day. Before the price revision that began on May 15, companies were incurring a daily loss of around Rs 1,000 crore on selling petrol, diesel and domestic cooking gas. Showrooms sell 10 to 15 CNG-powered vehicles daily. This is primarily due to the higher average mileage of CNG compared to petrol and diesel. Furthermore, CNG rates are also lower.
