Actor Shishir Sharma, who worked with Sushant Singh Rajput in the film ‘Chhichhore’, said regarding his death that he never believed Sushant could commit suicide. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Shishir Sharma revealed that he and Sushant knew each other since their TV days. When he was working in ‘Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli’ and Sushant was in ‘Pavitra Rishta’, both used to shoot nearby and eat lunch together during breaks. Shishir Sharma said that when Nitesh Tiwari cast him in ‘Chhichhore’ and told him that Sushant would also be part of the film, he became very excited. Shishir Sharma said that he was deeply shocked after receiving the news of Sushant’s death on June 14, 2020. He said, “When I received a message about Sushant at 4 PM, I couldn’t stop my tears. It was very difficult. It felt like a sudden blow from within… How, why, such a brilliant actor, such a composed person, why would he do something like this? There must be some reason. No one just commits suicide like that. It was very sad.” In response to a question about the possibility of suicide, Shishir Sharma said, “No, I don’t think it was suicide. He was not the kind of person who would take such a step. He was a very composed man, very, very composed. I doubt he would commit suicide. To do something like that, you need a lot of courage and guts. You can’t just take a rope and hang yourself, no.” Sushant’s death occurred on June 14, 2020 Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his flat in Bandra on June 14, 2020. Initially, Mumbai Police had termed it a case of suicide. However, after questions arose on social media and an FIR was filed by Sushant’s family in Patna, claims and allegations of both murder and abetment to suicide came to light. Following the order of the Supreme Court and the recommendation of the Bihar government, the official investigation of this case was handed over to the CBI in August 2020. The CBI had stated in its closure report to the court that no evidence of inciting Sushant to commit suicide or any kind of criminal conspiracy or murder in his death was found.
