Actress Kajol recently revealed that she was initially uncomfortable with her first on-screen kiss in the web series ‘The Trial: Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhokha’. She stated that she broke her three-decade-old no-kissing policy only due to the demand of the character. In her three-decade-long career, Kajol has given many hit films like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’. During this time, she always followed an on-screen ‘no-kissing policy’. However, making her OTT debut in 2023 with the web series ‘The Trial: Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhokha’, she gave her first on-screen kiss scene with co-star Jisshu Sengupta. When Kajol was asked about this on Lily Singh’s podcast, she said, ‘To be honest, it was a requirement of the role I was playing. It was very much related to that role and her thought process. It wasn’t just a kiss. It was about what she thought, what she wanted, and what didn’t happen with her. What she trusted, what she believed in, and what she couldn’t believe in. It was a very important part of the whole story, so removing it would mean removing a crucial part of the character.’ ‘I was very uncomfortable’ – Kajol
When asked in the podcast if Kajol had changed as a person, which made her feel comfortable doing it, the actress said, ‘I was uncomfortable with it. I was very uncomfortable until I went on set. Later, thinking about it, it felt okay, but I wasn’t sure if I would actually do it or if I would say in the middle, ‘Cut! This won’t happen!’ But I felt it was a professional decision and I could make that decision that day.’ In ‘The Trial’, Kajol played the role of Noyonika Sengupta, who resumes her legal practice after her husband’s scandal. This series is an Indian adaptation of the American show The Good Wife and is available on Jio Hotstar.
