At least six people were killed and 30 to 40 others injured after the roof of a hall at a Hanuman temple complex collapsed in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district on Saturday, according to preliminary reports. The incident occurred at Yashwadi Devsthan, where a large number of devotees had gathered for ‘kirtan’, ‘darshan’ and ‘Mahaprasad’. Saturday, considered an auspicious day for Hanuman worship, had drawn an unusually large crowd to the temple. Roof of under-construction ‘Sabha Mandap’ collapses According to local reports, construction work was underway on a ‘Sabha Mandap’ (assembly hall) located in front of the temple when the structure suddenly gave way. The roof collapsed, bringing down stones, concrete debris and iron rods. Several devotees who had gathered near the structure were trapped beneath the rubble, triggering panic at the site. Witnesses said people were attending religious activities and waiting for ‘darshan’ when the collapse occurred. Visuals from accident site Rescue operations continue Police, district administration officials and emergency response teams rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations immediately after the incident. So far, six bodies have been recovered from the debris of the collapsed structure. Authorities fear more people may have been trapped under the rubble when the roof caved in. Rescue personnel are using heavy equipment and manual efforts to clear the debris and search for survivors. Injured shifted to hospitals More than 30 people were reportedly injured in the collapse, with around 10 seriously injured devotees rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials said the condition of some of the injured remains critical. Medical teams have been placed on alert as rescue operations continue. Authorities have not yet announced the exact cause of the collapse. An investigation is expected to be launched to determine whether structural weaknesses or construction-related issues contributed to the accident.
