The meeting of the State Level Monitoring Committee under the Urban Gas Distribution Policy was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary.

The meeting of the State Level Monitoring Committee constituted under the Chhattisgarh City Gas Distribution Policy (CGD) under the Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department was held today at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Vikassheel. In the meeting, special emphasis was laid on working under the action plan for building infrastructure to develop pipeline based natural gas distribution in the urban areas of the state. In the meeting, various provisions of the policy and effective development of the city gas distribution system in the state were discussed in detail. 

PNG system will boost natural gas distribution system in the state

The Chief Secretary has directed officials to expedite the process to promote domestic, industrial, and commercial use of natural gas through pipelines. He has directed them to prepare an action plan to develop PNG infrastructure in government residential colonies, schools, colleges, hostels, hospitals, housing complexes, government institutions, townships, central kitchens, gas stations, and canteens. The PNG system will boost natural gas distribution systems in the state. This will reduce pollution and expand the use of clean fuel in the domestic, industrial, and transportation sectors.

Emphasis on strengthening the gas distribution system in the state

During the meeting, issues related to the expansion of the gas distribution network in the state, development of necessary infrastructure, coordination between related departments, and providing safe, smooth, and better gas supply to consumers were discussed. The Chief Secretary directed the concerned officials to thoroughly examine all aspects related to the implementation of the policy and ensure necessary action. He stressed the need to strengthen the gas distribution system in the state by working with better coordination between departments. To enhance human resources and technical capacity, emphasis is also being placed on training, capacity building, and skill development programs for plumbers and field technicians in each geographical region.

The meeting was attended by Secretary of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department Ms. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale, Secretary of Transport Department Mr. S. Prakash, Secretary of Housing and Environment Department Mr. Ankit Anand, Secretary of Revenue Department Mrs. Shammi Abidi, Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department Mr. Bhim Singh along with officials of Water Resources, Public Works, Urban Development, Environment Protection Board, Forest and Climate Change Department. Representatives of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization and public sector oil company and representatives of authorized unit also attended the meeting.
