About two hours before PM Modi’s rally in Mumbai, police detained two suspects. A 24-year-old man, who had entered the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in BKC posing as a PMO officer, was accompanied by a guard carrying a revolver. The Mumbai Crime Branch is questioning both of them. PM Modi will inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 at around 5:45 pm. The seventh edition of the Global Fintech Fest is being held in Mumbai from September 8 to 11. Claimed to be a PMO officer using a fake ID According to the police, the suspect has been identified as Rohan Parekh (24). He was roaming inside the NMACC premises claiming to be a senior official of the Prime Minister’s Office. Security officials became suspicious of his behaviour and activities. In view of the PM’s programme, the Special Protection Group (SPG) and Mumbai Police had already deployed tight security in the area. During the security check, police stopped Rohan and questioned him. During questioning, Rohan showed a PMO identity card to prove his identity. When the police verified it, they found that the identity card was fake. Loaded pistol found with bodyguard Rohan was accompanied by his private bodyguard. During a search, police recovered a loaded pistol from the guard. Following this, both were detained and questioning began. Probe into entry into cultural centre begins Following the incident, the biggest question is how the man carrying a fake PMO identity card managed to pass the security checks and enter the NMACC premises. Security agencies are investigating where Rohan used the fake identity card and who provided it to him. His actual motive for reaching the venue is also being investigated.
