Stolen army weapons recovered in Hyderabad:Cantonment employee arrested for stealing high-tech weapons

Telangana Police have recovered all the military weapons stolen from the Secunderabad Cantonment. According to the police, the theft was carried out with the help of a person working at the cantonment. The accused has been detained. However, the police have not yet shared other details that have emerged during the investigation. The theft came to light on August 31, when a lieutenant colonel of the Madras Regiment filed a complaint at Bolarum Police Station in Hyderabad’s Malkajgiri police zone. According to the complaint, the locks of two armoury rooms, located around 40 metres apart, had been broken, and a large number of high-tech weapons were stolen. Registers were not being maintained for several months During the investigation, a senior officer from a unit of the 20th Madras Regiment was also questioned. One reason for this was that the armoury’s registers had not been maintained for several months. Meanwhile, the security guard denied any forced entry. Therefore, the investigation team suspected from the beginning that this case was an “inside job,” meaning that an employee within the cantonment was involved. The investigation involved local police, military intelligence, and central agencies. Initially, 10 employees were questioned, after which the focus narrowed to the main suspects. One employee was detained and interrogated, thus revealing the theft. Upon identification of the suspect, all the weapons were seized from a location in Hyderabad. The investigation team is now searching for those involved in this entire network, including those who transported and concealed the weapons, and those who purchased them. According to military sources, officials will soon provide a detailed report to the media on this matter.
