Actress Nushrratt Bharuccha recently met with an accident in Bali. She had travelled to Bali for a work-and-holiday trip. She was admitted to a local hospital after the accident. She suffered a spinal fracture. Following this, it was decided to bring her to Mumbai for further surgery. An air ambulance was arranged for this purpose. She reached Mumbai by air ambulance on 2 October. Several actresses have been injured in accidents in the past as well. Actress Anu Aggarwal lost her memory after an accident. Mahima Chaudhry, meanwhile, had 67 pieces of glass removed from her face. I had been in several accidents. My left hand was passive. My right hand worked. When my right hand became paralysed, I could not even sign cheques. Several of my cheques bounced. How was I supposed to eat with my left hand? The spoon would move all over the place. You need both hands to untie the drawstring of your pyjamas in the morning; it would not come undone with one hand. How was I supposed to hold a toothbrush? The toothpaste kept slipping. I did all these things with one hand. However, Anu Aggarwal did not give up. With the help of yoga, meditation and inner strength, she not only learnt to walk again but also regained her memory. Mahima Chaudhary had a car accident Mahima Chaudhary, the actress who rose to fame in Bollywood with the film ‘Pardes’, had a serious car accident in Bengaluru in 1999. At the time, she was shooting for Ajay Devgn and Kajol’s film ‘Dil Kya Kare’. A truck collided with her car while she was travelling to the studio. The accident was so serious that the car’s glass shattered and became lodged in Mahima’s face. In an interview with Pinkvilla in 2020, Mahima said, “I thought I was dying. I reached the hospital, but no one even picked me up or took me to the hospital at the time. My mother arrived much later, and Ajay Devgn also reached there. When they went to speak to someone, I got up and looked at my face in the mirror. I wondered why they were making such a fuss. I said, ‘Come on. I still break down in tears when I talk about it because it was not just about my career. It was an experience that changed the way you look at everything in life. I had to live with staple-like stitches and stay indoors without sunlight. The windows of my house had been blacked out. I had stopped looking at myself in the mirror. There were no mirrors in the house, and sunlight did not enter either. I could not even keep lights that emitted UV rays in the house, so that no marks would remain on my face. At the time, I had several films lined up in which I was due to work, but because of the accident, I had to drop several of them.
