Playback singer Anup Jalota has asked Salman Khan to apologise to the Bishnoi community after shots were fired at Tiger Shroff’s car. Unknown attackers opened fire at Tiger’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening. People associated with the Lawrence gang claimed responsibility for the firing through social media posts and an audio message. Speaking to IANS, Anup Jalota expressed his sorrow over the incident. He said the only way to stop all this was for Salman Khan to apologise to the Bishnoi community. He said he had made the same point earlier, adding that the hurt suffered by the Bishnoi community could be healed only if Salman Khan apologised. He further said, “Otherwise, more people will continue to face these difficulties. Those who work with Salman Khan will face difficulties. Their families will also suffer. So why should Salman Khan not make up his mind once and for all and apologise to the Bishnoi community?” Firing at Tiger’s car in Juhu Tiger Shroff was returning after playing a football match on Sunday evening when unidentified bike-borne attackers opened fire at his car. Tiger narrowly escaped unharmed in the attack. His driver and a fan were shot. Both were admitted to hospital and were said to be out of danger. After the incident, a post and an audio message emerged on social media. In them, gangster Anil Pandit, who claimed to be associated with the Lawrence gang, took responsibility for the firing. The messages demanded that Salman Khan apologise to the Bishnoi community. They also contained threats against people associated with the actor. What is the dispute between Salman and Lawrence? The main reason for the dispute between Salman Khan and gangster Lawrence is the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The Bishnoi community has remained angered over the case, which is nearly 28 years old. Salman Khan has received threats several times because of this dispute. In 1998, Salman Khan was filming Hum Saath-Saath Hain in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. During this period, he was accused of hunting blackbuck. The Bishnoi community considers the blackbuck sacred. The community regards protecting wildlife as part of its religious faith. Demand for Salman to apologise Several people associated with the Bishnoi community, including Lawrence’s cousin Ramesh Bishnoi, say the dispute could end if Salman Khan visits the community’s religious site, Mukam, and apologises. However, Salman Khan’s father, Salim Khan, has previously said that apologising would amount to accepting guilt. According to him, Salman has not committed any such crime. Lawrence issued a threat in 2018 Lawrence threatened Salman while appearing before the Jodhpur court in 2018. After this, concerns about Salman’s security increased. In April 2024, firing took place outside Salman’s home, Galaxy Apartments, in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Lawrence’s brother, Anmol, claimed responsibility for the incident. In October 2024, Salman’s close associate and former MLA Baba Siddique was also murdered. Questions were raised about Salman’s security after this. After the firing incident involving Tiger, gangster Lawrence’s cousin Ramesh Bishnoi also said that the Bishnoi community and Lawrence had no personal enmity with Salman Khan. The dispute was only over hurting religious sentiments. He once again advised Salman to visit the samadhi of Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj and apologise. Ramesh Bishnoi said he does not understand why Salman Khan is not apologising despite repeated requests over such a minor issue. Why is he being so stubborn? Apologising does not make anyone inferior. He also appealed to Salman Khan’s family, saying that if the sentiments of any religion have been hurt, apologising is the right thing to do.
