Youth killed on moving Mumbai local train:Accused stabs, then jumps off the moving coach; dispute began over opening train door during rain

A passenger was killed in Mumbai during the season’s first monsoon showers after an argument over keeping the train door open escalated into violence. The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Mayank Lohar. The accused has not yet been identified. According to railway officials, the incident took place around 10:42 pm on Tuesday in the first-class coach of a Churchgate–Nalasopara fast local train between Andheri and Borivali stations. Just before the train reached Borivali station, the accused jumped off the moving train and fled. A video of the incident has surfaced on social media. One passenger wanted the door to remain open, while the other opposed it, citing the rain. During the argument, the accused allegedly pulled out a sharp weapon and stabbed Mayank in the abdomen. When the train reached Borivali station at 11:04 pm, teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrived at the spot. Medical staff were called, and Mayank was taken to the medical room at Borivali station. After an initial examination, he was shifted by ambulance to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali, where he later died during treatment. CCTV footage seized, search for accused underway Western Railway said CCTV footage related to the incident and other evidence have been handed over to investigating agencies. Railway officials also reached Borivali station during the night to review the incident. The railway police are investigating the case and searching for the absconding accused.
