Suniel Shetty backs Ranveer Singh in ‘Don 3’ controversy:Actor says ‘Who are you to ban someone? No one has that right’

Suniel Shetty has defended Ranveer Singh in the Don 3 controversy. He was banned by FWICE (Film Federation of Western Cine Employees) after a complaint about him leaving the film. This meant that no one associated with the Federation could work with him until the controversy ended. On this, Suniel Shetty says that no one has the right to ban an actor. He says that Ranveer has made a significant contribution to the film industry’s revenue. No one can ban him just like that. In a recent interview with Times Now, Suniel Shetty spoke about the Don 3 controversy, saying, ‘No one can ban an actor. No one can ban art. No one has the right. The Supreme Court would dismiss this matter in a second. Look, the problem is that both (Farhan and Ranveer) are sensible. Farhan is also a very sensible actor, producer, and director. And so is Ranveer. He has seen success. I think if both sit together, the matter will be resolved.’ I will not interfere in this – Suniel Shetty When he was asked if he could resolve this matter, he replied, ‘No, I will not interfere in this matter, because many people have already spoken. But knowing Farhan and Ranveer, I would like to say that if both sit together, they can create magic. Ranveer is at his peak, and Don is a project that would be great to be a part of. This franchise started with Amitabh Bachchan, then Shah Rukh joined. What could be better than that?’ Further, he said, ‘If someone is saying that I will ban this, I will ban that, you cannot just ban anyone like that. Who are you to ban anyone? Try to understand that this child has given you crores in revenue. Why do you want to ban him? If you ban something that sells, what are you asking for? Bans are just talk.’ What is the whole matter? Farhan Akhtar had announced the third film of the Don franchise, Don 3, with Ranveer Singh 3 years ago. Kiara Advani was cast alongside him in the film, however, Kiara left the film due to maternity leave. This film kept getting postponed due to casting issues, and then Ranveer Singh started working on the film Dhurandhar. After the success of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh decided to leave the film, citing creative differences, which Farhan Akhtar objected to. Amidst the dispute, Ranveer Singh offered to return the signing amount, but the production claimed that 45 crores had already been spent on the film. Amidst the dispute, Farhan Akhtar first sent a complaint to the Producer’s Guild and later to FWICE, seeking intervention, after which the dispute escalated further.
