Will Jethalal’s character end in ‘Taarak Mehta’?:TV serial makers denied the rumours, Dilip Joshi to remain part of the show

The makers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah have dismissed rumours circulating on social media that Jethalal’s character is being written out of the show. Speaking to Aaj Tak, the makers clarified that Dilip Joshi will continue to be a part of the long-running sitcom and that the storyline remains centred around his character. Speculation had been rife over the past few days, with several social media posts claiming that Jethalal’s journey in the show was coming to an end. The rumours sparked concern among fans, who wondered whether Dilip Joshi was planning to leave the series. Refuting the reports, the makers said the claims are completely false. They reiterated that Jethalal remains the central character of the show and that there are no plans to remove him from the storyline. The makers also pointed out that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah will complete 18 years on July 28, adding that Jethalal will continue to play a key role in the show as it celebrates the milestone. Dilip Joshi was not the first choice for Jethalal’s role Initially, Dilip Joshi was offered the role of ‘Champaklal’ (Bapuji). He declined it and chose the character of ‘Jethalal’. Dilip Joshi has been associated with the show since its inception, for the past 18 years. The character of Jethalal is considered one of the most popular characters among the audience. According to reports, he is among the highest-paid actors on the show. He receives a fee of approximately ₹1.5 lakh to 2 lakh per episode. He also has a good professional and personal understanding with producer Asit Modi. Notably, many main actors of the show have left the show in the last few years. These include Shailesh Lodha (old Taarak Mehta), Bhavya Gandhi and Raj Anadkat (old Tappu), Neha Mehta (old Anjali Bhabhi), and Gurucharan Singh (old Sodhi). Meanwhile, the show’s lead actress, Disha Vakani (Dayaben) went on maternity leave in 2017. Since her departure, the makers have not been able to find her replacement till date.
