In the climax scene of the film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, 500 liters of petrol and 25 kg of gunpowder were used in each tank. This was revealed by the film’s SFX supervisor, Vishal Tyagi. He stated that the film’s most talked-about tanker blast scene was shot entirely with the help of ‘practical effects’ and involved zero CGI (Computer Graphics). During this dangerous scene, Ranveer Singh was giving his shot completely calmly amidst raging fire and explosions. Real Petrol and Gunpowder Were Used
In an interview with ‘Hindi Rush’, Vishal Tyagi revealed that director Aditya Dhar wanted to make this scene look very real. Vishal said, “Usually, people create a small explosion and then make it look bigger with the help of computers, but Aditya Dhar’s instructions were clear that we should not use CGI for the explosions.” Creating the tanker blast in the climax was the most difficult task. We burned real 500 liters of petrol in it. Safety was our biggest concern because Ranveer Singh had to walk amidst the flames.” Ranveer Singh appeared fearless amidst the blast
During the shooting, the biggest risk was for Ranveer Singh because he had to pass very close to the fire. Vishal said that Ranveer was not scared at all. According to Vishal, Ranveer trusted our team. I had given him precise information about where he needed to start walking from. After the shot was complete, he happily told me – ‘You nailed it!’ Arjun Rampal was also present in this scene, but he was removed from there before the blast shot, whereas Ranveer took more risk. Production Advice Disregarded
Vishal Tyagi was under immense pressure to execute this scene. The production team wanted only 250 liters of fuel to be used to cut costs, but Vishal insisted on 500 liters. He explained, “To achieve the correct visual effect, I had to put 25 kg of gunpowder in each tank. I listened to everyone, but in the end, I did what was necessary for the film. For this, real train bases and containers were used so that the scene would look powerful on screen.” Third Highest-Grossing Indian Film Dhurandhar 2 has also become the third highest-grossing Indian film worldwide. Dhurandhar 2 surpassed Allu Arjun’s film Pushpa 2, which earned ₹1,742.10 crore. Now it is only behind Dangal (₹2070 crore) and Baahubali-2 (₹1,788.06 crore). Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar 2 together earned more than ₹3,000 crore worldwide. Following this, it became the first Indian film franchise to earn more than ₹3,000 crore.
