A Sub-Inspector of Birbhum’s Nalhati Police Station, identified as Ajmal Haque, has been arrested in Mumbai in connection with an alleged rape at a guest house in Salt Lake. However, when officers from Bidhannagar East Police contacted Birbhum District Police regarding the case, Haque was reportedly found to be untraceable. Acting on a tip-off, Bidhannagar East Police eventually traced Haque to Mumbai and arrested him. He was subsequently produced before a Mumbai court. Following the court proceedings, Haque was brought to Kolkata on transit remand. He is scheduled to be produced before the Bidhannagar Court today, where investigators are expected to seek his custody for further questioning.
