Pakistan on Saturday summoned an Indian diplomat to protest the killing of two people at the India-Pakistan border in Tarn Taran, Punjab. Pakistan claims that both men were Pakistani nationals and were killed in BSF firing. The incident took place on Friday. Indian officials say the men were attempting to cross into Indian territory. After a warning, the BSF opened fire. 3 people were trying to cross the border According to Indian officials, three suspicious men were moving towards the Indian border from the Pakistani side. BSF personnel warned them to stop. One of them retreated back to Pakistan, while the other two continued forward. The BSF then opened fire, killing both. This is the second incident of infiltration in Tarn Taran in seven months. Pakistan says those killed were not infiltrators Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said the two people killed were unarmed civilians who had gone near the border and inadvertently crossed the international boundary. Pakistan summoned an Indian diplomat and protested the BSF action, stating that the use of force against civilians was unjustified. Islamabad has demanded an immediate, transparent and credible investigation into the incident, along with legal and disciplinary action against those responsible. It has also sought that the findings be shared with the Government of Pakistan. August 2024: A Pakistani intruder was killed near Dal village in Tarn Taran. August 2023: An intruder was killed in BSF firing near Thekalan village in Tarn Taran. May 2021: A Pakistani intruder was killed near Khalda village. The BSF recovered Pakistani items from him. February 2021: A Pakistani intruder was killed in the Ferozepur sector. The BSF recovered 14.8 kg of heroin and weapons-related material.
