The film industry is mourning following news of the death of film actor Nana Patekar. Several stories about his time in Bhopal emerged during the shooting of the film ‘Raajneeti’ in 2009. One Sunday, he went to the market to buy minced meat while concealing his identity. After returning to Hotel Jehan Numa Palace, he obtained special permission, prepared minced meat with peas in the kitchen and also made lemongrass soup. Nana last visited Madhya Pradesh in February this year in connection with the shooting of the film Shakti Shalini. It is being described as his final film, due for release in 2027. Stopped the car before reaching the market, then went to the shop According to Vinod Singh, senior manager at Hotel Jehan Numa, Nana Patekar changed his appearance to conceal his identity and covered his face with a piece of cloth. He left in a Mercedes but stopped the car before reaching the market. He then went to the shop himself, bought minced meat and returned to the hotel. According to Vinod Singh, Nana Patekar enjoyed cooking. Ordinarily, outsiders were not permitted to cook in the hotel kitchen, but special permission was obtained for Nana. Introduced his son to the staff and asked him to touch their feet Vinod Singh also recounted another incident involving Nana Patekar. When Nana’s son Malhar came to the hotel, he introduced him to the staff. During this interaction, he asked his son to touch the senior manager’s feet. He then introduced his son to the staff working his entire shift. Line producer said: His behaviour was extremely warm and cordial According to Bhopal line producer Syed Zaid Ali, although there may be talk about Nana’s stern image, his behaviour towards Nana during the shooting of the film ‘Rajneeti’ was extremely warm and cordial. During this period, Zaid Ali’s biological brother also got married, and Nana Patekar attended the wedding. His arrival at the family function amid the shoot is also among Zaid Ali’s memories. ‘Shakti Shalini’ was also shot in MP Nana Patekar’s upcoming film ‘Shakti Shalini’ is being considered his likely final film. Parts of the film were also shot in Madhya Pradesh around February-March 2026. According to Bhopal-based line producer Syed Zaid Ali, portions of the film were shot in Gwalior, Datia and Morena. Shooting took place at a school and a theatre in Gwalior, as well as in Datia and the surrounding rural areas. Nana Patekar plays an important role in the film and had completed shooting his part. Director Aditya Sarpotdar shared an emotional post following Nana’s death, recalling his experience of working with him and his enthusiasm for cinema. The film’s official release date has not yet been announced.
